Networking On A Budget

Chances are if you have started your own business you have access to the internet. Chances are you’re also on a start up budget when it comes to marketing your business. Well, guess what? There are a ton of ways to network with other professionals right there on the internet. Now, for some of you this is a no-brainer. But there are plenty of new business owners that just don’t know where to begin.

Do some research. Test the waters on many networking sites and see what works for you and what’s comfortable for you. Check out Yahoo message boards, look up people in your industry and follow them on Twitter. See if your local chamber has an online forum you can join.

Remember, joining all of these sites won’t get you immediate business. You have to participate. Join in chat conversations, post questions and answers on the forum message boards.

If you find you just don’t have the time to post a few tweets or update your fan page or you just don’t have the patience think about hiring a virtual assistant. We are here to help you run your business so you can succeed doing what you do best!

Website Design Suffolk Page and Social Bookmarking

In order to target our Suffolk Web Design page, we are experimenting with social media sites such as Squidoo, Digg, Propeller and Shoutwire.

As these sites don't all like direct advertising, we have created a "feeder" Suffolk Facts page which is not linked from other pages within the website (and therefore does not drain vital link juice from them) but which directs all the link juice it gets directly to our Suffolk Web Design page.

This Suffolk Facts page also allows us to create Squidoo lenses and - in due course - ezine articles about Suffolk which provide links back to our website. This might be a useful additional source of articles / lenses as it is hard to come up with an original article/Squidoo lens on "website design" in a market saturated with other website designers all using similar techniques to promote their sites.

Will post back here to inform of results - we have only just started to target these search terms and the page is currently sitting at a dismal 23 in the serps for "website design suffolk" and 21 for "web design suffolk".

April 8th - Suffolk Web Design is now 11 / 12 in the SERPS (most of the time) for "website design Suffolk" and "web design Suffolk". The bookmarking sites and link building have had some results; more still needs to be done to get in the top 10.

July1st - Suffolk Web Design is now 7 / 8 in the SERPS, probably due to the additional links gained. Doesn't sound much, but other web designers have higher page rank so we're not doing too-o-o-o-o-o badly!
