Brian Broderick - Business Development

Summary Description: Technology and computers has been his passion for over 20 years. He has held titles such as Sr. Programmer, Database Architect, Product Manager, IT Director, and Business Owner. He has built sites ranging from e-commerce to social networks.

In the 6th grade, Brian was introduced to computers through a primitive text based game called the Oregon Trail, as well as a very simple drawing tool where he could feed commands to a turtle that would then draw a shape based on line lengths and angles.

Since then, he has based his career on computers and technology.

At Sento, a technical support outsourcing company, he architected and helped write several popular websites such as Intuit's TurboTax and McAfee's VirusScan support portals and their respective CRM and reporting tools. He helped MySQL debug some of their replication code along with a fellow Database Administrator, and helped create PGP's website. During portions of his career there, he was the Sr. Programmer, Database Administrator, Project Manager, and was responsible for the R&D team.

At Sadie's, a nationwide chain of photography studios, he held the position of IT Director.  He created their Point of Sale system, inventory tracking system, purchase order system, employee time clock and management system, online booking system, and sales reporting system.   He was in charge of server and network administration for all of the stores, the websites, email servers, etc.

At Aspen Innovations, he was the business partner responsible for development and administration of the web and database servers.  He wrote a web analytics software package and created several client websites.

He's a founder and partner of ProSPOTLIGHT, programmed the platform that ProSPOTLIGHT uses, and manages the infrastructure that it sits on.  He also programmed and manages The Lens Flare, a community of artists and photographers, a web development company website called Ask Some Geeks, as well as a writing website called Desert Realm.

Other projects he has worked on over the years include a web spider and search engine, several e-commerce websites, a text based multi-user game, countless cron scripts, exports, several blogs, and other utility programs. He's also proficient with Photoshop and several 3D graphics tools, and has created the graphics design for several websites including The Lens Flare, Desert Realm, and various others.

He has programmed in Basic, Visual Basic, JavaScript, ASP/VBScript, Flash ActionScript, Java, PHP, and Ruby (in that order). He's managed MS SQL servers, MySQL servers, Microsoft Servers, and Linux LAMP and Rails servers.  On the network side, he has installed, configured, and deployed computer networks for Sadie's, a nationwide retail chain of photography studios.  He's currently honing his skills deploying websites in Amazon's EC2 cloud hosting environment.

The Internet has changed through the years from simple sites hosting a few documents to the massive user-driven communities of today. ProSPOTLIGHT is the accumulation of all that he's learned over the past 14 years that he's been active on the web. It's a product of his experience with the Desert Realm search portal and writing community, The Lens Flare photography community, his SEO efforts on other sites, and the study of other social networks and several other successful web models.
